The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) announced yesterday that winners of the highlyprestigious search for Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts (TOBS) of the Philippines will be known on Monday, October 1 as they released the names of the 23 national finalists of the 2012 search.
The 23 Finalists were chosen from hundreds of aspirants from the BSP’s 117 local councils nationwide. They will represent their respective regions in the competition. They will compete in the last leg of the search, the interview, which will start on 28 Sept. 2012 at the BSP National Office in Manila. Participants from the 9 Scouting Regions will arrive on Sept. 27.
Exclusively sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines, the annual search is the biggest event in the Scouting calendar for the country’s 2 million Scouts. The nationwide search begins in July and culminates in the awarding ceremonies held in October as one of the highlights of Scouting Month. The contest is for Senior Scouts, who are Filipino citizens, currently registered third or fourth year high school students.
Winners of the search will receive two year college scholarship, cash and other prices. Part of criteria for the selection of winners are community service, which refers to leadership or membership involvement to school- related activities, character development and bearing and interview which includes communication skills and personality.
